The last video for Day 3 of our Bulgarian driving adventure is out, and you can check it out here. We head into the fray that is city driving once again. This time, our destination is Old Town. We head back to Hotel Jägerhof, walk around the area, and end the day with dinner alongside a kitty cat.
The old town portion of Plovdiv is an architectural and historical area with ruins, museums, churches, cobblestone streets, and gorgeous views. This area is very hilly (it is actually three hills), and the streets are uneven stones. We saw a few people struggling with strollers, and honestly, it looked like a nightmare. However, there is a lot to see and enjoy in the area if you can make it up.
We started our time here by walking up to the Saint Demetrius Orthodox Church. While no photos were allowed inside, I assure you it was beautiful and inspiring. Many people were praying and meditating inside. Such a calm atmosphere in the bustle of the city is welcome.

Our next stop was at the Ancient Theater. Unfortunately for us, they were getting ready for a concert. Yes, you can still see concerts here in this theater. It was a private event, but we still got to take photos through the gates. And, once again, the views up here are just incredible.

From the theater, we walked up to the Regional Ethnographic Museum. Along the way, we took some interesting photos. You can see the condition of the streets and paths, too, so you can make an informed decision if you visit.

The Ethnographic Museum, like all Bulgarian museums, was extremely reasonable in cost. I think they were all around $6USD per person. Inside, the museum was a trove of interesting historical items and facts. The building itself is gorgeous. We sat inside and took a break, just letting the Bulgarian surroundings relax us. The grounds outside are equally beautiful with roses, cats, and plenty of seating areas.

We were ready to head back to the hotel for the day by this time. The walk back to the car took us through many scenic areas of art, architecture, history, and culture. Plovdiv is one of the most photogenic cities I have visited.

We stayed at Hotel Jägerhof this evening. One thing to note is the parking is gate controlled. We could not enter because the gate claimed the lot was full. Thankfully, someone left soon.
We enjoyed a nice walk around the area, and we had the most delicious burgers from LISKO Burger. It was pretty obvious when we ordered in our broken Bulgarian that we weren’t locals. But they let us practice, and then the chef made us the most amazing burgers we had on the entire trip. Even their cat joined us for our dinner.

After a relaxing walk back, we ended day 3 of our Bulgarian adventure. Another beautiful day in Plovdiv awaits us in the next segment when we visit an aviation museum and explore more of the pedestrian mall area of Plovdiv. Happy travels everyone!
