Waterfall of the Gods

The next video is available, and this one begins Day 8 of our journey around Iceland. It started out as a very foggy and rainy day, though we travel below the cloud line for awhile. We pulled over once to change the memory card that we forgot to change the night before. Then, we visited Goðafoss. This video is short and foggy, and if you suffer from insomnia like I do, it would be great at 2AM when you can’t get to sleep.

Goðafoss

I almost forgot we were stopping at the waterfall. I hadn’t put it into the GPS even though it was in my Wanderlog activities. Thankfully, you can see Goðafoss from the road, so it is really hard to miss. It was rainy and muddy when we went, but the paths are flat. You can get lots of good views there, too. We got dressed in our waterproof gear, enjoyed the waterfall, and then that ends this short video.

The mythology behind Goðafoss is interesting in that it supposedly marks a shift in Icelandic religion, from pagan to Christianity, though the Norse gods still survive to this day. There is parking on both sides of the falls, walkways, and hiking trails. It was one of the easier waterfalls to visit in my opinion. Bring your waterproof gear here because you can get wet from the mist off the waterfall.

My husband has been automating the map process, and we’ve been playing around with a new camera for our upcoming adventures. Our daughter drew our cute new car for the maps, as well. You can check out her art at Kandicow. We nicknamed our rental car Dee (from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia). That car dinged and beeped at us around the entire island. So if you’re a long time viewer, you’ll catch some of the car jokes we start making in the videos.

We are about to start fall here in New England. We are getting ready for conventions, road trips, international travel, and local Halloween events. It will get very busy, very quickly over here, and I am excited to share all that we do with everyone. Happy adventuring!
