Our next driving video is out, and you can watch it here. We stayed in Plovdiv two days, and this morning we started with the Aviation Museum. It was an absolutely gorgeous day with clear skies and sun. One thing I loved about Bulgaria is that roses grow everywhere. They’re in the interstate median, in front of people’s homes, and even here at the aviation museum.

This museum is almost entirely outdoors, so do choose a nice weather day to visit. The location is absolutely beautiful and surrounded by mountains. It feels a little like you’re going the wrong way, as the roads are less traveled and lead to a military installation as you can see on the video. But, the museum is also located down that road, also. The museum was very accessible, on flat land, and paved.

Like all museums in Bulgaria, the Aviation Museum’s entrance fees were extremely reasonable at around $4 USD per person. My husband also paid $4 to enter and explore the Mi-24D and sit in the cockpit.

Outside, you will be astounded by the number of planes on exhibit. We took a lot of time to meander up and down each row. In the back area, they also had vehicles, trucks, and other artifacts. My husband included a lot of photos in the video, so be sure to check it out.

Inside, the museum had even more items on exhibit that explained the history of aviation in Bulgaria. The indoor portion was fairly small, but we enjoyed it.

We end this segment with a trip to the grocery store, Billa. The olives and cheese in Bulgaria were plentiful and delicious, so give them a try if you visit. Going to the grocery store in a foreign country is one of my favorite ways to get to know a place. We brought home all kinds of food to try like “American Burger Sauce,” pudding mixes that are more like a gelatin, crackers, candy, gum, and spices.

In the next video, we finish the driving day early, but do a walking tour of the pedestrian mall in Plovdiv. Be kind to each other, and happy adventuring.
