Our next video is out and you can view it here. This segment of the trip doesn’t include much. It seems the universe was pretty determined to keep us out of Pazardzhik. Here are some photos from the road to tide you over until next time.

Originally, I had reserved a hotel in Pazardzhik for us. Before we even got to Bulgaria, though, the hotel had canceled. We are fine with changes in plans, so we opted to stop in the city and explore it before we drove on to Plovdiv for the night. But, as you can see in the video, the exit was blocked and then the next exits were closed for construction. With no other choice, we just drove on to Plovdiv.
So, what had we intended to do in this small city? Besides just seeing a Bulgarian town and visiting the grocery store, I really wanted to stop at Svoboda Park Island. It is a park in Pazardzhik with fairy tale sculptures, dinosaurs, a lake, sports areas, and a cafe. It sounded like a nice place to walk around and take photos.
In addition, I wanted to see the clock tower in town. The location was part of the Ottoman empire. The original tower was destroyed in earthquakes. The new one looks cool in photos. Alas, we did not make it on this trip.
Next time, we make it to Plovdiv and explore the Old Town area there. Until then, you can enjoy this video’s scenery. Notice that we leave the mountains and the plains that extend to the Black Sea unfurl ahead of us. Happy Adventuring!
