Snæfellsnes Peninsula Part 6

The final video for Day 10 of our Iceland trip is finished, and you can watch it here. In this section, we visit our final waterfall, see the only golden sand beach in Iceland, and end our day at a family owned hotel.

The first stop in the video is only minutes away from the Black Church, and it will be the last big waterfall we see in Iceland. Bjarnafoss boasts a two tier cascade over basalt cliffs. With ample parking and a nice, flat walkway, this waterfall is a must see if you’re traveling around the peninsula.

The next stop is at the Ytri Tunga beach. This beach is known for the golden sand and the seals. Both harbor and gray seals frequent this beach. Even in October, we had no trouble finding a few seals basking on the rocks. This beach also has plenty of parking, and it is an easy walk to the shoreline.

I loved all of the colors on this beach: red moss, black rocks, golden sand, green grasses and algae. We went on a drizzly, windy, cold day, and the beach was empty. It was such a peaceful moment on our trip. You really must embrace whatever weather you are given in Iceland.

Finally, we drive back to our hotel for the night, Langaholt Hotel. This family owned and operated hotel had large rooms, a balcony, a golf course, and a view of the ocean. The rooms were quiet, the hotel had interesting décor, and a large, delicious spread for both dinner and breakfast. We loved their buffet of homemade Icelandic foods.

Next up, we will finish our last full day in Iceland by visiting the Settlement Center, touring a lava tunnel, and getting some last treats in Reykjavik. With only four or five videos left, we are nearly done with this project! My husband has learned a lot about making videos, and I really love how they are turning out. Happy adventuring!
