The next video is out, and in it, we finish Day 9 of our trip in Iceland. We left Ring Road to go to the Snorrastofa in Reykholt. The Snorrastofa is a research center for the Middle Ages, and in particular, all things Snorri Sturluson.

He was an author and a poet, and one of his most famous works is the Prose Edda. He tended to get in a little bit of trouble in his romantic life and with Norwegian royalty. I encourage you to read about him or watch this educational and highly entertaining video on “Iceland’s #1 Menace.”

The museum itself was small, but interesting. I learned a lot about Snorri and the history of Iceland. The grounds of the area were his home and the location of his murder in 1241. They also had on display a selection of old Icelandic tombstones, a gift shop, and a wonderful docent who shared a lot of fun facts on Snorri and the area.

We stayed at the Fosshotel Reykholt which is directly behind the Snorrastofa. They offer their own spa services for a fee, and they had a restaurant we enjoyed. It was expensive, as are most things in Iceland, but the Arctic Char was probably the best fish we’ve ever had in our lives. So tasty! We also tried their lamb with beet sauce. It was also quite yummy.

Krauma Geothermal Bath is also in the Reykholt area, but we didn’t visit on this trip. Next time, we will begin the trek to Snæfellsnes Peninsula, and our last big day of adventure before returning to Reykjavik. See you then!
