Iceland Day 9: Heading West

Day 9, Part 1 of our Icelandic road trip series is available to view here. We leave from Akureyri and stop in the small village of Varmahlíð. If you enjoy snowy mountains, you’ll enjoy this first video as we make our way to Reykholt for the evening.

In Varmahlíð, we visited the little handicrafts shop next to Olis. They had all kinds of hand-crafted items like dolls, sweaters, hats, candles, and soap. This shop was also the one place I encountered someone who didn’t speak English. However, we successfully communicated and I got this lovely reindeer oil soap. This soap felt so good and it made my skin super soft. In fact, I got it in October 2024 and just used the tiny end of it in September 2025, so it lasted a really long time, as well. Definitely stop in if you’re passing through Varmahlíð on your road trip.

We are trying to finish up the Iceland videos by the end of this year so that starting in January, we can put up our Bulgarian driving videos from our recent trip. Happy adventuring!
