East Iceland Part 3

The third section of our journey through East Iceland is up and ready to view here. Ahh, we’re still on a quest for a bathroom in this one, and yet again, in the unedited video, I ask if we can stop at a facility. As if that question will create said facility out of thin air. Anyway, we’re in hour three of this day and still haven’t found an open restroom. Spoiler: this video ends with us pulling into a closed coffee shop. I am so desperate for it to be open, I ignore the giant closed sign on the window.

In this section, you will find more beautiful coasts, mountains, one lane bridges, low hanging clouds, relaxing drives, and cool music. And no bathrooms. But, if you look at the mountains, you can just start to see a dusting of snow highlighting the ridges. There is the ubiquitous rainbow in this video, also, as we travel the area.

I did want to highlight a couple of things from this footage. First, you’ll see the rings in the water. Those are fish farms. They are mostly operated by some Norwegian companies, and there is a lot of controversy about the environmental impact.

Second, you get to hear our car, nicknamed Dee, telling us to make a sharp left into the middle of nowhere. That car handled great, but the navigation system was a little wonky. After she tells us to make that left turn into the wilds of East Iceland, she told us to make a right into the ocean. The car dinged and blinked, beeped and gave us weird instructions the entire trip. So don’t always follow your navigation system, even if it is a local to Iceland.

Sit back and enjoy this hour of gorgeous scenery as we continue our trek towards Egilsstaưir.
